Senior Engineer – VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd | November 2023 - Nov 2024

HS2 Old Oak Common – West London - £60 million: Old Oak Common Lane road lowering and utility diversions via an under track crossing (UTX) including Thames Water trunk mains, gas, electric and telecoms.

• Led the temporary works designs for the utility investigations and produced design briefs for the UTX tunnel reception pits, connection trial holes on the road and bulk excavations.
• Appointed as the temporary work supervisor, leading the implementation of various unique temporary works designs including deep excavations, king post walls and utility propping.
• Produced scoping documents to allow suppliers to tender for the works.
• Reviewed supplier’s quotations for implementation of the investigation works and provided support to the commercial team in managing costs and maximising engineering efficiencies.
• Managed subcontractors works and mitigated interfaces with other disciplines on the project by producing lookahead programmes.
• Mentored project and junior engineers.

Civils Consultant (Secondment) – Atkins | May 2023 - November 2023

Based in London Victoria, Nova North. Single option development design for two railway stations as part of Network Rails CP7 Wales and Western.

• Developed and coordinated civil design models to input into the federated model. Software: Bentley MicroStation and ProjectWise.
• Produced design drawings with the aid of an CAD technician and Network Rail standard drawings.
• Prepared budgets for civil design consultancy services for clients. Monitored costs for the civils team budget analysing actual cost versus forecasted.

Section Engineer – VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd | October 2022 - May 2023‍

East West Rail Project – Winslow Station - £4.7 million: Ancillary civils works included drainage, ducting, highways, precast retaining walls, fencing and RC foundations. Together with building works and footbridge/lift shaft installation.

• Led design coordination meetings and identified discrepancies between the works information (design drawings, specification, and standard details).
• Raised buildability issues before works commenced onsite and communicated these via a technical query (TQ) / request for change to the client’s principal designer.
• Produced four-week lookahead programmes to meet budgets.
• Mentored junior engineers and acted as their line manager contributing to their development.
• Ensured works are planned in accordance to rail HSEQ procedures by writing task briefings, works package plans and inspection test plans (ITPs).
• Responsible for the commercial success of the project and raised early warnings and compensation events when change occurred.
